Laura’s Weekly TV Wrap-up Reactions 11/8-11/14
Paige and I attended a concert Thursday night, so that’s the reason for some of our missing posts this week. We’ll be recapping our concert experience, though, as always, so be on the lookout for that! You can check out the “Music We Listen To” tab, to read some of our other concert reviews.
In the meantime, here are my thoughts on this week’s happenings on TV…
I finally thought maybe they were going to redeem Noah with this episode. He was on really good behavior in the first half, and I’m so relieved that the hate fest between him and Helen is over because it was just plain tough to watch. That being said, he was back to being awful, selfish Noah with a temper in the second half. Was it just me, or did he basically rape Alison? I get that he’s supposed to be a tortured writer and everything, but he’s also just kind of a bad-news guy, and I can’t root for him.
I’m so glad Saul is back to trusting Carrie. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he suspects Allison of being corrupt at all yet. Quinn is still as badass as ever. I love him. I love him so much. I’m so happy he is alive and (moderately) well. I really liked this episode, and I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
As usual, Paige’s Supergirl recap really says it all. I’m gonna disagree with some of her season predictions, though. I think Kara will date James before Winn but will end up with Winn in the end. And maybe James will end up with Alex. I do agree with Paige that it was cool to see this week’s villain be an actual human, and yes, Jenna Dewan-Tatum couldn’t have looked more gorgeous. Can I be her? The one thing I really can’t get over with this show is that Kara really has no disguise, yet no one can figure out who she is. What the heck?
Am I the only one who giggles every time I hear the name Karen McClaren? It is just so laughable. Anyway, I like that they had Betty’s ex show up and that she expressed more hesitation this week. It developed her and lent a bit more credibility to her character. I’m also really interested to hear Kent’s backstory. The Phantom of the Opera thing was interesting, and I really want to learn his motive(s) for what he does.
They’ve finally found their footing, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m actually really starting to enjoy the show. I’m so bummed that Matt Parkman is essentially evil now (or so it seems). I’m excited to potentially see what’s become of Micah, though. I’m loving the reincorporation of the old characters. They keep saying Malina and Tommy/Nathan are the ones who will save the world, but I think Luke is going to end up playing a big part in it too, and I’m really interested to see what it is.
Renion shows are always entertaining on Project Runway. Is it just me, or was this season’s cast one of the most unlikeable ever? I just felt like most of them hated each other, and I think Tim really hated most of them too.
I like that Amanda seemed sweeter here than she was portrayed on the show. We were actually friends as kids, and she was a nice girl back then, so I was kind of sad when she was portrayed as a bratty, entitled crybaby. It was interesting to see that most of the contestants didn’t seem to like Candice very much. Really, Edmond, Merline, and Kelly seemed the most nice and real to me. I was really happy for Kelly when she received the $25,000 from Mary Kay. It makes me wonder if that was the show’s way of saying, “We really think you should have won, but we didn’t want to face the backlash of not awarding Ashley’s collection first place since it was the first plus-size collection ever.”
Project Runway: Junior
I don’t have too much to say about this one yet since I’m still getting to know the contestants. Were two of the boys on Threads last year? Matt and Zachary look familiar. I was actually really impressed with the quality of most of the construction. For me, that was really what was lacking with Threads, but I think, because these contestants are a bit older, that’s been improved this time around. I find Hannah Davis a bit awkward as the host, but I think she might get more comfortable over time. I thought all the judges did a pretty nice job.
How to Get Away with Murder
This week was really good. So Philip and Catherine did it together? Or one is covering for the other? Are they romantically involved? (Ew.) So many questions!
Yay for Michaela’s first O. Get it, girl!
In the last flash forward, it also showed Bonnie taking the gun off of Wes, so it is pointing toward her being the one who shoots Annalise. Either her or Asher, I’d bet.
And I forgot to mention this last week, but what’s the deal with Annalise and Wes? She’s definitely always had a soft spot for him, but what’s the reason? I hope the reveal is coming soon.
Dinner is calling my name, so I’m off! Paige will be checking in later this night with her coverage of The Good Wife, and you won’t want to miss it!
Until the next commercial break,
